If you’re looking for a UK family hotel where the kids are actually entertained rather than just tolerated, you’re in the right place. Proper supervised kids clubs are rarer than you’d think at hotel level, and the difference between one that gets it right and one that doesn’t is enormous when you’re travelling with small children.
This guide is built from extensive research across parent communities, family travel reviews and recommendations from friends who’ve stayed. We haven’t personally visited every property on this list with R, but we’ve been rigorous about what makes the cut: consistent praise in real parent forums, a properly structured kids club (not just a play area), and an honest picture of what’s complimentary versus what costs extra.
One thing that comes up constantly when I talk to my mum friends is this: is it actually worth paying UK hotel prices for childcare, or is it cheaper to go abroad? Honestly, it depends on the hotel. The ones on this list offer real value because the kids club is complimentary or well-priced and the overall experience justifies staying in the UK. But if you want to explore what’s out there in Europe, we’ve covered the best options in our guide to the best European resorts with kids clubs, which covers Sani, Ikos, Feuerstein and more. And if you’re weighing up a hotel holiday against a self-catering lodge break, our guide to Center Parcs alternatives covers the UK holiday parks worth considering.
And if you’re still pregnant or planning a first night away, our guide to luxury UK babymoon hotels or stays for that first night away from the baby is worth a read first.

1. Chewton Glen, Hampshire
Chewton Glen is one of those hotels that keeps coming up organically when parents talk about genuinely luxurious UK family breaks. It sits in the New Forest on the edge of the coast, and the combination of high-end finish with a relaxed, child-welcoming atmosphere is what sets it apart. This isn’t a hotel that tolerates children, it’s one that actively makes them feel at home.
The Beehive Kids Club runs during school holidays and weekends with a varied activity programme covering different age groups. Beyond the club, the outdoor space is lovely: woodland trails, an outdoor pool, tennis courts and enough room to run about properly. The treehouse suites come with private hot tubs and sleep families comfortably, which explains why they keep appearing in parent recommendations as a special occasion option.
For adults, the spa is excellent and the restaurants are a cut above most hotel dining. This is one to consider if you want something that feels like a proper luxury retreat that happens to be brilliant for children, rather than a family hotel with a nice spa bolted on.
💡 Worth knowing: The Beehive Kids Club runs during school holidays and weekends. Minimum age is 4 and children must be fully toilet trained. Treehouse suites with private hot tubs are a standout option for families wanting more space and privacy.
2. Fowey Hall, Cornwall
The first hotel in my list from Luxury Family Hotels group is Fowey Hall in Cornwall. LFH have been doing family hotels for over 30 years and it shows. Every property runs an Ofsted-registered kids club and includes two hours of complimentary childcare per night of your stay, baked into the room rate rather than added on as an extra. One of my good friends stayed in a LFH hotel recently and loved it!
Fowey Hall is a grand Victorian house above the Cornish estuary and part of the Luxury Family Hotels group. Fowey Hall is one of the most recommended family hotels in the UK for good reason: the childcare offering starts from three months old, which is genuinely rare. The Four Bears Den creche is calm and well-staffed, set up specifically for tiny ones with cots, nap areas and a gentle, low-stimulation feel. Staff follow babies’ own routines around feeds and naps, which makes a real difference in practice.

For older children, sessions run to age 8 and include marshmallow toasting by the firepit, pirate escape room challenges and nature safaris. Beyond the club there’s a zip wire, a cinema room with beanbags, arcade games and treasure hunts making full use of the rambling gardens.
Rooms can be set up with cots, baby monitors, blackout blinds, bottle warmers and sterilisers on request, which means you’re not packing as though you’re relocating. Anyone who has packed for a baby holiday knows that’s a bigger deal than it sounds.
💡 Worth knowing: Two hours complimentary childcare per night of stay. Kids club from three months to age 8. Babysitting available. Part of the Luxury Family Hotels group so the standard is reliably consistent.
3. The Grove, Hertfordshire
Thirty minutes from London and doing a convincing impression of a countryside estate, The Grove appears in almost every parent conversation about UK family breaks near London. Anouska’s Kids Club covers ages 2 to 9 with themed sessions during school holidays and weekends: cooking classes, nature crafts, outdoor adventures and seasonal events.
The wider facilities are the real standout. An outdoor heated pool, adventure playground, woodland trails, a pop-up beach in summer and UEFA-coached football sessions make this feel more like a resort than a hotel. The Scandiborn Sleepover package (teepee, toys, full room transformation) is a particular hit with younger guests. Sessions cost £45 per child for a three-hour slot, which is worth factoring into the overall budget.
💡 Worth knowing: Anouska’s Kids Club costs £45 per three-hour session, ages 2 to 9. Runs seven days a week during school holidays and on Saturdays in term time. Babysitting available. 30 minutes from central London.
4. Another Place, Lake District
Cool, stylish and built around its outdoor setting, Another Place sits in 18 acres of Lake District National Park on the shores of Ullswater. The Ofsted-registered kids club covers six months to 12 years and leans into what the location offers: den-building, lake dipping, kayaking tasters and campfire cooking. This is much closer to an adventure camp than a conventional hotel kids club, and children tend to come back genuinely tired and happy.
Family accommodation options include hotel rooms, a private treehouse and shepherd huts. Fell-walking strollers are available to borrow if you want to take things off-road. For adults there are three restaurants, a spa with lake views and paddleboarding and hiking on the doorstep.

💡 Worth knowing: Complimentary Ofsted-registered kids club, six months to 12 years. Sessions vary between term time and school holidays so worth checking ahead. Babysitting available.
5. Coworth Park, Berkshire
A Dorchester Collection property set in 240 acres of Berkshire countryside near Ascot. Coworth Park is one of the more underrated entries in the family hotel conversation, and it keeps coming up in parent recommendations from people who’ve actually stayed. The kids club is a dedicated seven-room playhouse covering art, baking, building, reading and outdoor activities, and starts from age 2. It runs during school holidays and weekends, with pony riding, archery and swimming also available across the estate.
For adults the credentials are serious: Michelin-starred dining at Woven by Adam Smith, a beautiful spa and polo ground. It works particularly well as a special occasion family break rather than a regular weekend away.
💡 Worth knowing: Kids club from age 2, school holidays and weekends. Sessions are charged separately (around £15 per child) rather than included in the room rate. Pony riding and archery available separately. Babysitting available.
6. Bedruthan Hotel & Spa, Cornwall
Perched above Mawgan Porth beach on the north Cornish coast, Bedruthan has been doing family hospitality since 1959 and it shows. The Ofsted-registered childcare is split by age: the Beehive Club covers under-8s and the Z Club runs for over-8s, with morning and afternoon sessions available to book in advance. The Z Club is free from 9.30am to 3.30pm, and during school holidays evening clubs for over-5s run from 7.30 to 10.30pm at an additional cost.
Beyond the clubs, the play offering is extensive. Younger children have dedicated baby play areas with ball pools, slides and wooden ride-ons, plus indoor jungle tumble rooms and outdoor adventure play including a wooden ship and trampoline. Older children get an assault course, zip wire, air hockey, table football and a games room. There are indoor and outdoor pools, surf lessons, a cinema room and a tennis court, with Mawgan Porth beach a short walk from the hotel.

The activities programme also includes daily craft sessions, silent discos, quiz nights, storytelling and an outdoor theatre during school holidays. Baby listening is available in every room. There are two restaurants: the Wild Café is the family-friendly option with high chairs and microwaves, and The Ogo is more formal with a minimum age of five.
💡 Worth knowing: Beehive Club for under-8s and Z Club for over-8s; sessions must be booked in advance and the kids club runs during school holidays for ages 5 and up. The Play Space creche is suitable from birth to age 5. Check the website for current session availability as timings vary seasonally. Babysitting available.
7. Moonfleet Manor, Dorset
Perched above the Fleet lagoon on a dramatic stretch of the Dorset coast, Moonfleet Manor is the most striking of the LFH properties in terms of setting. It’s close to the Jurassic Coast and has the same Ofsted-registered kids club model as the rest of the group: two hours complimentary childcare per night of your stay, well-staffed and well-run.
It comes up repeatedly in parent recommendations, often named specifically rather than just mentioned as part of the LFH group. The coastal location means beach and outdoor activities feel like a natural part of any stay. The hotel has a slightly more relaxed feel than some of the more polished entries on this list, which is no bad thing with young children in tow.

💡 Worth knowing: Two hours complimentary childcare per night. Dorset coast location is a strong draw for families who want sea alongside their hotel facilities. Worth looking at alongside New Park Manor (New Forest) and The Ickworth (Suffolk) if you’re comparing LFH properties.
8. Gleneagles, Perthshire
Gleneagles barely needs an introduction. Five-star luxury in the Perthshire hills, an hour from Edinburgh, with a kids programme that competes comfortably with the best European resorts. It appears in almost every conversation about the best family hotels in the UK and the reputation is well earned.
Little Glen covers ages 2 to 8 with supervised sessions. One complimentary 90-minute session per child per day is included, with additional sessions bookable on-site at extra cost. The space was recently refurbished and now includes its own indoor treehouse. The Den is a free, unsupervised space for 8 to 15 year olds. Activities across the estate go well beyond what most hotels offer: junior golf, falconry, pony rides, archery and bushcraft are all available.
The main hotel has elegant, spacious rooms with plenty of room for cots and extra beds. Self-catering lodges and estate houses are available alongside hotel rooms, making Gleneagles a strong option for larger families or multi-generational trips where you want hotel facilities but more space and privacy in the evenings.
💡 Worth knowing: One complimentary 90-minute session per child per day in Little Glen (ages 2 to 8). Additional sessions bookable on-site at extra cost. The Den is free for ages 8 to 15. Book childcare sessions ahead of arrival as they fill quickly during school holidays.
9. Woolley Grange, Wiltshire
Woolley Grange is another from LFH Group, not far from Bath. Self-described as a “countryside playground where adults can embrace their inner child and kids can roam the grounds”, this Jacobean hotel offers the signature 2 hours free childcare per night, and has been named in The Times’ 50 Best Places to Stay in the UK for 2026 list.
10. Crieff Hydro, Perthshire
Crieff Hydro is a Scottish institution. It has been welcoming families for generations and many guests return year after year, now bringing their own children. That history shows in the atmosphere: it knows exactly what a fun family holiday feels like and doesn’t overcomplicate it.
The kids club offers free two-hour supervised sessions for ages 2 to 12, with separate groups so nobody is lumped in with the wrong age range. Little Country is the stay-and-play space for under-3s. The activity list across the resort is enormous: animal feeding, horse riding, alpaca trekking, soft play, a cinema, swimming pools with flumes, and The Bunker, a private games room you can hire that includes a golf simulator, pool table and jukebox.

One honest note: the adventure centre activities are priced separately and some guests find them on the expensive side. The hotel itself also has an older feel in places. Neither of these things stops families having a great time, and the kids club and overall atmosphere get consistent praise in parent reviews, but worth knowing before you arrive.
💡 Worth knowing: Free two-hour supervised sessions for ages 2 to 12. Babysitting available. Adventure centre activities cost extra. Self-catering lodges available for larger groups. Whisky bar for when the kids are happily occupied.
11. Four Seasons Hampshire
An hour from London in a restored Georgian manor near Hook, the Four Seasons Hampshire is quiet, beautifully run luxury with a kids programme that delivers reliably. Kids For All Seasons covers ages 4 and up with treasure hunts, cooking sessions, arts and crafts and outdoor activities across the estate. Two complimentary hours per child per day are included.
The indoor pool with a slide, soft play and outdoor playground are well set up for younger children. The parkland setting makes it feel considerably more rural than the drive from London suggests, and the spa and restaurants are both excellent. It comes up repeatedly in Mumsnet parent recommendation threads, which says something: this is the sort of hotel that gets word-of-mouth from parents who’ve stayed rather than just editorial coverage.

💡 Worth knowing: Two complimentary hours per child per day. Thursday to Sunday in term time; daily during school holidays. Ages 4 and up. Babysitting available.
12. Calcot & Spa, Cotswolds
Set just outside Tetbury across 220 acres of Cotswolds countryside, Calcot is one of the most generous hotels on this list in terms of complimentary childcare: four hours per day, which is significantly more than most. The Ofsted-registered creche starts from 12 weeks, the Play Barn kids club runs to age 8, and the whole operation is well-run and well-staffed.
The hotel itself hits the right balance between proper luxury and somewhere that actually works with children. There’s a spa, excellent food, and treehouse suites if you want to make things special. Rooms come with Tonies Story Boxes as standard, which is a thoughtful touch. Evening babysitting is available to book in advance.
💡 Worth knowing: Four hours complimentary childcare per day, one of the most generous on this list. Creche from 12 weeks. Babysitting available. Treehouse suites book up fast so worth reserving early if that’s on your wish list.
13. Beaverbrook, Surrey
A glamorous Surrey Hills country house just outside London with a kids club run by Sharky & George, whose reputation in children’s entertainment is well established. Sessions are high-energy and genuinely imaginative: spy missions, treasure hunts, science experiments, outdoor adventures. It’s the kind of programme that sends children to bed without any negotiation.
The club covers ages 5 to 12 and runs on weekends and daily during school holidays. Beyond the club there’s a dedicated kids pool, indoor and outdoor cinema, a playground and acres of grounds. For adults there’s a spa, tennis courts and two restaurants. The Garden House is the more relaxed, family-friendly option for meals with children.

Rooms have real personality, with bold design and bunk room options that children love. The whole place feels more like a weekend at a very stylish country house than a conventional hotel stay.
💡 Worth knowing: Kids club for ages 5 to 12. Weekends and school holidays only. Babysitting available. About 45 minutes from central London.
14. Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall
Right on one of Cornwall’s best stretches of sand, Watergate Bay is the place for families who want a proper beach holiday without leaving the country. The kids club covers six months to 12 years, staff are qualified to a minimum level 3 in early years and many have SEN experience, which is worth knowing before you book.
The beach-led activity offering for older children is what sets this apart: surfing lessons, bodyboarding, rock pooling and coastal walks alongside a teen games room that avoids forced fun. For adults there’s a spa, your own surf lessons if you want them, and three restaurants ranging from relaxed beach dining to the more grown-up Zacry’s on the Sea Wall.
💡 Worth knowing: Complimentary supervised sessions, six months to 12 years. Timetable varies between term time and school holidays so worth checking ahead. Babysitting available. Dogs welcome.

A note on booking kids club sessions
Several of these hotels fill quickly for school holidays, and kids club sessions can book out ahead of your arrival date even where sessions are complimentary. It’s worth calling or emailing to pre-book childcare when you confirm your room. Most properties also offer babysitting for evenings, which is worth arranging in advance too.
If you’re open to heading abroad, the options for structured kids clubs expand considerably. Our guide to the best European resorts with kids clubs covers Sani Resort, Ikos, Feuerstein and more.
